Far removed from the clatter of slot machines and the fleshy hordes passing through Euro-theme hotels, Fred Glusman occupies his regular table in the front room at Piero's. Proprietor of the cozy northern Italian restaurant that served as a Mob hangout in Martin Scorsese's Casino and regularly attracts Strip royalty ranging from Jerry Lewis to Don King to Debbie Reynolds, Freddie is Las Vegas's restaurateur to the stars. His place is unfamiliar to tourists and remains open well past closing hours, so Wayne Newton can take friends for a post show supper. When Frank Sinatra had a hankering for Piero's veal Milanese, Freddie packed it up nice, on the restaurant's china, and sent it to Palm Springs via the Chairman's private jet. And after Mob lawyer Oscar Goodman was elected mayor of Las Vegas last year, it was at Piero's that he threw his celebratory dinner party.
